Quantum Flux – Equipment

This is the third extract from Quantum Flux, available on Wednesday 7th.

The characters, a salvage team, will find themselves stuck on a unknown vessel with aliens and an insane A.I.. Short of equipment they need to grab whatever they can find to survive. This section of the adventure gives the Game Leader a summary of the equipment that can be found onboard. Each location on the ship has details of what is in the lcation and how hard it is too find.


There is alot of equipment available to the characters in Quantum Flux. Some of this equipment they find on the shuttle at the beginning of Part 2. The rest can be salvaged from the Leopold.

Weapons & Ammo

Item Description
Hawk Laser Rifle The Hawk is the standard civilian energy rifle, self-charging for easy use in combat. Reliable and reusable, its only drawback is its lack of bite compared to military weapons.
Heinlein’s Plasma Cutter A standard tool that has seen massive modification. This plasma cutter is a powerful and effective weapon.
Hull Rivet Gun A large, heavy weapon that needs both hands to use effectively. Able to handle 6 bolts at a time, the tool is usually used for hull repairs.
Laser Scalpel A medical tool. The point of the scalpel generates a focused, three-inch cutting laser beam that can be used with incredible precision to perform surgery or by a professional to cause severe lacerations.
Modified Plasma Cutter A plasma cutter that has been modified based on the designed left behind by Chief Engineer Conrad Heinlein.
Plasma Cutter Generally used for welding metal and cutting through coverings or doors. In a pinch it can be used offensively and defensively as it generates massive amount of heat at its cutting point.
N52B Plasma-Pulse Rifle An old, military-grade rifle. This weapon was phased out of service ten years ago. It’s magazine can hold 30 rounds.
Plasma-Tipped Round A high-velocity round, copper-jacket surrounding a container of plasma designed to burn through the target.
Rivet Bolt The Rivet Bolt is normally used to attach thick metal plates together. If used on a living creature it will create quite a mess.
Sparrow Laser The Sparrow is a standard personal defense weapon used for the last forty years. Reliable, light-weight and only needing a recharge once every dozen years.
The B.F.G. A Bi-quantum-state Fluxating Gun. An Experimental prototype. Designed to be fired once this weapon was left unused when the project was cancelled.


Item Description
Armoured Vacuum Suit Similar to the Vacuum Suit but has been improved with a few plates of kevlar to provide a little extra protection.
Centurion Armour A suit of combat-grade armour. The Centurion is still considered to be the best personal body armour suits a soldier or a mercenary can get their hands on.
Orbiter Armour Personal body armour. The Orbiter is a vacuum suit but with effective protection against enemy fire.
Vacuum Suit A simple suit designed to hold off the cold, empty and deadly environment of space. It serves as a vital form of protection, although it is only just more effective than human flesh against claws, bullets, fire, plasma, rivet bolts and similar.


Item Description
Cat Carry Case A small rectangular box with a handle. The label on the box reads “Jamesy’s home away from home”.
Command Override A keycard belonging to a senior officer that allows the holder to override any door, console or standard system.
Hull Explosives Incredibly powerful explosive charges, used to blow large gaping holes in ships.
Jamsey The Cat A small, ginger/beige striped feline with a lot of fur, green eyes, and a sorrowful look on its face.
MEM Kit The Modular Electronics & Mechanics Kit is a standardised technician’s box. It contains tools to perform common electronic and mechanical maintenance tasks.
Portable Deck A portable computer system that can be used to run computer programs, analyse systems and perform network operations.
Practitioner’s Kit A medical bag containing the rudimentary tools of the doctor’s trade. It is used to aid professionals in the treatment of the ill and the analysis of the dead.
