Gunfights Galore at Sabrecon

Taking a break from promoting Mince Pies & Murder I spent Saturday at Sabrecon running 6d6 Shootouts.

New Con on the Block

The convention is a new event and organised by the Leicester University game society. Student run events can be of variable quality but this was a good con. Certainly comparable to the more established events. As well as role-playing there was a magic tournament and a strong wargaming element.

The only negative aspect of the con was its layout. Centered around a large atrium, the rooms for dealers, magic players, talks, wargaming and role-players were spread out around the building. This made it harder to get that convention vibe, especially as the atrium and building were busy with a student open-day and other activities.

But this was the only downside of an otherwise great one-day con. I look forward to next year’s event.

Bang! Bang! You’re Dead

During the day, we manage to find full sets of players for three games of 6d6 Shootouts – our wild west skirmish game variant of the 6d6 RPG. We had some great players who quickly grabbed the proper strategy for each of the character types. The latest stealth mechanics got a good shakeout as well and the mechanics proved understandable to new players.

As always we collected feedback from each player.
