Armistice Day: Remembering Real Heroes

Tabletop Warriors

It is easy to forget in the comfort of our own gaming rooms that the life and death combat we excitedly look forward to each week was and still is real, terrible and deadly for many men and women around the world. The conditions that troops face in the frontline, even in modern wars, are far worse that we can imagine. What we can dismiss with a Fortitude Saving throw is days of standing hungry and cold in knee deep mud with the constant threat of death.

11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month

Today is the 90th anniversary of the armistice that ended the World War I. Before you roll your next attack, stop and remember the fallen of that and subsequent wars. Not just the allies, the “good guys” or “our side”, but the combat troops on all sides. Young men and women who answered their country’s call out of duty, patriotism and naiveté.
