Geography

Formed from the tail end of an extensive mountain range that juts out into the Mediterranean, Greece comprises dozens of peninsulas and thousands of islands. Mainland Greece is a dry place and the soil is generally poor, except in Thessaly. Outside the cities there are ancient forests and many areas are still wilderness.

This is the starting page of the geography section, intended as a summary and introduction. Most of the sections here, particularly the powerful greek cities will be given their own more detailed page.
