Potential Damage

Potential damage is a meta-effect usable with any action aiming to knock out, disable, hinder or slow down a character. A successful attack deals potential damage using the success +4 scale.

Taking potential damage forces the character to move potential from the bank and/or from anticipated advantages (player's choice) to the spent pile. If the amount of damage exceeds the available potential, the excess damage is paid for by moving potential from the spent pile to the damage pile. When there is no more potential to discard the character is unconscious or otherwise unable to act until the end of the a scene.
