The World
The world the adventurers find themselves is far removed from the world of the Fay or the dark days of anarchy that followed it. The freed slaves races of humans, elves, dwarfs, goblins and more have found their own way and carved out their own place in the world. Slowly a civilisation has been built, at least in some parts of the world.
The known world consists of a large island continent. It is dominated by a human civilisation, known by its rulers as the Empire of the Divine Hand but by everyone else as simply The Empire.
The Empire is build on its highly professional army and navy. The loot of conquest and than more recently on trade has made the Empire rich. Its capital city is the largest in the known world with a population exceed one million people. The scribes and scholars have mastered geometry and maths whilst it mages and priest wield the power of magic.
Though large, the Empire only controls a quarter of the continent. It has trade connections to most of the rest of the land mass but large tracts of land are still unexplored and wild. What lies beyond the continent is a mystery. Sailors navigate by following the coastline and other than few scattered islands, what lies beyond the great ocean is unknown.
