Area (x) [Keyword]

The advantage has an area of effect of one or more 5' squares. The target area can be up to (x) squares in size with no additional situation bonuses to the resistance. For each additional (x) number of 5' squares or part thereof over the base area, the resistance gains a 1d6+0 situation bonus. All targeted squares must be contiguous with at least one other targeted square. Multiple Area (x) keywords in an action are added together. Actions without an Area (x) keyword are considered to be Area (0), adding a 1d6+0 situation bonus for every square targeted.

Is it just me or does the numbering not make any sense?

So: "The target area can be up to (x) squares in size with no additional situation bonuses to the resistance. For each additional (x) number of 5' squares or part thereof over the base area, the resistance gains a 1d6+0 situation bonus.".

So with an Area(1) advantage, I could target 1 square with no reistance bonus, 2 squares with a 1d6+0 resistance bonus, 3 squares with a 2d6+0 resistance bonus, and so on.

Likewise, with an Area(2) advantage, I could target up to 2 squares w/o a resistance bonus, 3 to 4 with a 1d6+0 bonus, and so on.

Following that logic, with an Area(0) advantage, I could target 0 squares with no resistance bonus. And for every 0 squares I add, the resistance is increased by 1d6+0. So the resistance bonus is either 0 or infinity, as 0 equals 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + …

With doesn't matter, because unless the advantage affects something more abstract like world peace or the general satisfaction of a populace, the advantage has no ( literally 0) target in physical space.
